5 Things for the Week Ahead: Haunted Houses, Music and a Halloween Soirée

5 things you need to know for the week of Oct. 24, 2011.

1. at is a family friendly event that will occur on at 6 p.m. Monday and will include arts and crafts, refreshments and a haunted house. There will also be a show at 6:45 p.m. This event is only for ages 4 years and up and costs $20.

2. The Gnarly Vine in New Rochelle is hosting an . Jazz musician Andrew Lipow will also be performing. This free event is at 9 p.m. Monday.

3. at New York Botanical Garden is a 21-and-up event held at 7-9 p.m. Friday. The age requirement is due to the complimentary beer being served, but if you don’t drink there will also be soda and water. To celebrate Halloween, creepy culinary delights will be served. Cricket flour bread with honey, green papaya salad with water bugs and insect-embedded cookies are just a few of the refreshments. If you are not so adventurous, sandwiches and cheese platters will also be available. This event is $30 and advanced tickets are recommended.

In White Plains, the Rocky Ledge Swim Club is holding a Halloween event called . This event will feature a combination of a scary walk in the forest and haunted house. The Haunted Dead End Production Crew will be decked out and ready to terrify visitors at 8-11 p.m. Friday for $15.

5. is a Playland Park haunted attraction occurring at 8 p.m. Friday in Rye. This event will include a “tunnel of doom,” sanitarium and many other features. Tickets are $15.
