My name is Carmela. I'm 20 years old and a senior at Quinnipiac University. I have a minor in psychology and have recently been accepted to Quinnipiac's new Nursing school. At Quinnipiac, I am a member of the Student Nurses' Associaton and greek organization Alpha Delta Pi. I have had neurological Lyme disease, Babesiosis and Bartonella for over 6 years. I was misdiagnosed for the first 4 years and underwent antbiotic treatment for 2 years. Currently, I am under the care of a hollistic/alternative medicine physician.
I love to write about and educate the community about Lyme disease and other tick-borne infections, in all it's forms- acute, chronic, neurological, etc. In order to protect you from what I have had to experience.
Besides writing, I like to play softball, exercise, read, spend time with family and friends and cook. My 7 year old sister, Gabriella, is my biggest inspiration.
If there’s one thing that outweighs my fear of these diseases, it’s my gratefulness- for my doctors, nurses, family and friends.. I wouldn’t be half as strong as they say I am, without any of their help. I live by the motto "Hope is the last to die".
