The hospital welcomes individuals interested in volunteering in various departments to assist the staff and enrich the overall experience for patients.</p> <p>To be enrolled in the volunteer program, prospective volunteers must first schedule and an interview with the Director of Volunteer Services, complete medical clearance forms and attend a mandatory orientation. Younger volunteers, age 14 to 17, also are eligible to enroll with the written consent of a parent. </p>

Because it does not receive any federal or state funding, the center relies on a host of volunteers and donors.</p> <p>Together, they rescue more than 500 dogs and 900 cats per year.</p> <p>Dedicated volunteers are committed to providing care for lost, abandoned, injured and mistreated animals. The shelter and adoption center serves 17 communities in Westchester County.</p> <p>Cats and dogs are routinely available for adoption. The adoption fee is $90 (cats) and $150 (dogs). The center offers low-cost spay and neuter certificates that can be used at local vets. </p> <p>Volunteers are always needed to socialize pets, take in foster animals, clean up around the shelter and more.
