The Volunteer Services Department at Sound Shore Medical Center of Westchester is located on the third floor ofMore the main building. The hospital welcomes individuals interested in volunteering in various departments to assist the staff and enrich the overall experience for patients.</p> <p>To be enrolled in the volunteer program, prospective volunteers must first schedule and an interview with the Director of Volunteer Services, complete medical clearance forms and attend a mandatory orientation. Younger volunteers, age 14 to 17, also are eligible to enroll with the written consent of a parent. </p>

The New Rochelle Humane Society is a private, not-for-profit organization that has been a staple in New RochelleMore since 1911. Because it does not receive any federal or state funding, the center relies on a host of volunteers and donors.</p> <p>Together, they rescue more than 500 dogs and 900 cats per year.</p> <p>Dedicated volunteers are committed to providing care for lost, abandoned, injured and mistreated animals. The shelter and adoption center serves 17 communities in Westchester County.</p> <p>Cats and dogs are routinely available for adoption. The adoption fee is $90 (cats) and $150 (dogs). The center offers low-cost spay and neuter certificates that can be used at local vets. </p> <p>Volunteers are always needed to socialize pets, take in foster animals, clean up around the shelter and more.
