MITCH: Your finger?

CURLY: One thing. Just one thing. You stick to that and the rest don’t mean &%$^

MITCH But, what is the “one thing?”

CURLY: [smiles] That’s what you have to find out.

I’ve talked about being effective before being efficient and how time management is such an important skill, and probably several other thoughts on prioritizing what you do with your day.

Now I’m gonna make it simple. City Slickers simple.

ONE THING simple.

In the Steiner Sports office, we used to say the day was about two things.

One wasn’t enough and three was too many.

Two things fit perfectly.   As in:

“Don’t forget to do this – and that.”

But I’ve changed my mind.

I think the day is all about doing one thing – with convicition.

Start the day off with one goal in mind – the most important goal you can think of.

Then just chip away at that one thing all day – until you’re done, or you just can’t chip anymore.

Only after that should you move on to the next thing.

What’s funny is that by focusing on one thing – and one thing only – I  bet you’ll get a lot more things done than when you focus on multiple goals at once.

Prove me wrong!

But you won’t!
