White Trash Party, Comedy and Diwali

Here are some of the things you should know about for the coming weekend.

1. Farmers markets are still in full swing in the Sound Shore area. Plenty of fresh seasonal produce and other goodies are still available from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Down to Earth Farmers Market in New Rochelle (North Avenue in front of the high school).  From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, the New Rochelle Grand Market moves into the New Rochelle Public Library for its first-Saturday-of-the-month winter market. And from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in Larchmont is the Down to Earth Farmers Market held at the Metro-North train station. Produce available now includes cabbage, broccoli, Brussels sprouts and squash.

2. Daylight Saving Time ends Sunday at 2 p.m. Remember to turn your clocks back one hour or you will be early to everything Sunday.

3. Get your White Trash on at NoMa Social Saturday in New Rochelle. The fun begins at 10 p.m. at 1 Radisson Plz. Come dressed to impress at the White Trash Party because there will be a costume contest with cash prizes and live music. There's no cover charge.

4. Now you don't have to travel down the NYC to satisfy your comedy fix because Molly Spillane's—211 Mamaroneck Ave. in Mamaroneck—is having a Commuter Comedy Showcase at 8 p.m. Saturday (doors open at 7:30 p.m.). There's a $10 cover. For the lineup of comedians and other details, go here.

5. Celebrate Diwali—or the Hindu "Festival of Lights"—Sunday at the New Rochelle Public Library. The free event will begin at 1:30 p.m. when families can paint clay pots called diyas. Then at 3 p.m., in the Ossie Davis Theater, there will be a performance by Liza Joseph, a classical Bharatanatyam dancer, who will depict an ancient folk tale and other traditional movements. The event is part of the BID Family Days Go Global for the 325th Anniversary of New Rochelle.
