Thanksgiving Food Shopping, Cat Show and Tree Lighting

Here are some of the things going on around the area this weekend.

1. Do your shopping for Thanksgiving by buying locally. Farmers markets are still taking place in the Sound Shore area. Plenty of fresh seasonal produce and other goodies are still available from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Down to Earth Farmers Market in New Rochelle (North Avenue in front of the high school). This is the last weekend for the New Rochelle market. From 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in Larchmont is the Down to Earth Farmers Market held at the Metro-North train station. From 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday in Rye, the Down to Earth Farmers Market will be held in the parking lot behind Purchase Street stores. Produce available now includes cabbage, broccoli, Brussels sprouts and squash. If you don't feel like baking your Thanksgiving pies, it's likely you can buy them at your favorite farmers market.
