Paint a Mural, Farmers Markets and Giant Tag Sale

Here are some of the things you should know about for this weekend.

1. Feeling artistic? Then head to Library Green in New Rochelle Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for "Painting Mural on the Green." The first of its kind event is hosted by MODHArts Studio and sponsored by New Rochelle Downtown BID. 
Kids and adults are all encouraged to join to paint the mural which is 4 feet tall by 20 feet wide.

2. Plenty of fresh produce and other goodies are still available from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Down to Earth Farmers Market in New Rochelle (North Avenue in front of the high school) and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the New Rochelle Grand Market on Library Green, Lawton and Huguenot streets. And from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in Larchmont is the Down to Earth Farmers Market held at the Metro-North train station.

3. Want to see how the other half lives? Or do you just like looking at homes for sale? Here are the Open Houses in New Rochelle this weekend.

4. The 20th Annual Giant Tag and Book Sale will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday. It will be held at the Westchester County Historical Society, 2199 Saw Mill River Road (9A), Elmsford. There will be loads of gently used furniture, books, prints and old Westchester maps. And much more.

5. All lanes of the Bronx River Parkway will be closed Sunday for the 9th annual Westchester Medical Center Running Festival. The hours the northbound and southbound lanes between the Westchester County Center (Exit 22) in White Plains and the Sprain Brook Parkway in Yonkers will be close are between 7 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes such as the Sprain Brook Parkway, Central Park Avenue or Route 22.
