Primary, Council Meeting and FunFuzion

Here are a few of the things you need to know for the week of Sept. 9, 2013.

1. Primary elections will be held Tuesday, Sept. 10. Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Rye city Councilwoman Catherine Parker faces off against former Mamaroneck village Trustee Tom Murphy on the Democratic line for a primary to replace Westchester County Legislator Judy Myers in District 7, which covers part of New Rochelle.

2. The New Rochelle City Council will meeting at 3:45 Wednesday—not Tuesday, because of the primary elections—with Citizens to Be Heard at 7:30 p.m. The agenda can be found here.

3. Weatherwise, this week doesn't shape up too badly. Mostly sunny to sunny skies dominate Monday through Wednesday and Friday. High temperatures increase from around 73 Monday to near 87 Wednesday. Thursday calls for a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, with a high near 83. The high goes back back to the upper 70s Friday.

4. The City of New Rochelle's Official 9/11 Commemorative Service & Candlelight Vigil, sponsored by the United Veterans Memorial & Patriotic Association of New Rochelle, will be held at the American Legion Post 8, 112 North Ave., New Rochelle at 7:30 p.m Wednesday, September 11.

5. Celebrate 14 years of FunFuzion at New Roc City with free rides and games at Westchester County's only indoor amusement park. Bring proof of New Rochelle residency and receive one free game of lazer tag, one hour of free non–redemption arcade games and free unlimited rides from noon to 10 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10
