Mini Summer Camp, Summer Sounds and Summer Produce

Here are a few things you need to know about for the week of August 26, 2013.

1. Eye Level Learning Center of New Rochelle has an Academic Mini Summer Camp this week. There will be activities and hands-on projects to keep students learning over the summer. Possible topics of exploration include:  Nature and Environment, Health and Nutrition, Moons, Stars & Planets, Chemistry, History, Geography & Topography, Economics & Finance, Art & Art History and Music. Classes will run 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from August through August 30th. The cost is $45 per day. Call 914-632-1047.

2. Summer Story Time at Starbucks continues at 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 27. Sponsored by Beth El Synagogue Center and Starbucks, on Tuesdays through Aug. 28, Beth El staff will engage your child with an exciting story for free while you enjoy your morning up of coffee. This event is geared to families with young children, but all are welcome. Call Beth El Synagogue Center with questions: 914-235-2700. Starbucks is located at 1278 North Ave. in New Rochelle.

3. The Emil Paolucci Summer Sounds Concert Series continues at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Hudson Park Band Shell with the Streets of the Bronx Band. It's free. Bring a picnic.

4. Summer might be winding down, but fresh produce and other goodies are still available from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Down to Earth Farmers Market in New Rochelle (North Avenue in front of the high school) and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the New Rochelle Grand Market on Library Green, Lawton and Huguenot streets.

5. The main branch of the New Rochelle Public Library will be open Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Both branches will be closed Sunday and Monday for the Labor Day weekend.
