Main Street Paving, Hounds on the Sound and Silver Streaks

Here are a few of things going on in and around New Rochelle this week.

1. The City of New Rochelle has scheduled milling and paving operations for the downtown Monday through Thursday, August 12-15. Streets include Main Street from Division Street to North Avenue, Memorial Highway from Main Street to the entrance of the Library Parking Lot, and Westchester Place. Due to the high volume of daytime traffic, work will be done at night from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Parking on affected roadways will be prohibited as of 7 p.m. each evening. Roads may be closed intermittently while work is being done. Work will be scheduled as conditions permit.

2. Hounds on the Sound 2013, which benefits the New Rochelle Humane Socieity, will be held October 6. If you register online before Thursday, August 15, you are automatically entered into two drawings for $25 worth of raffle tickets to be used the day of the event. To register, go here.

3. The Emil Paolucci Summer Sounds Concert Series continues with Silver Streaks at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the band shell in Hudson Park. The concert is free.

4. More Bronx River Parkway closures are coming up through White Plains, Scarsdale and Bronxville. Everyone is advised to find alternate routes. Here is more information.

5. There is a massive art exhibit, "Coney Night Maze," at the Neuberger Museum of Art at SUNY Purchase. Inspired by the landmark roller coaster on Coney Island, "The Cyclone," with its hairpin turns and stomach lifting plummets is a sculptural installation, "Coney Night Maze" is an exhibition that runs through September 15th.
