Columbus Day Ceremony, Computer Data and '39 Steps'

Here are some of the things you should know for the week of October 14.

1. Is it open; is it closed? Here are some of closings in New Rochelle for Columbus Day Monday. 

2. The Calabria Society's annual Columbus Day ceremony will be held from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday in Hudson Park at the Christopher Columbus statue.

3. A seminar will be held at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday where you can learn how to protect your company's data. Robert Cioffi, CEO of Progressive Computing (PCI), is leading the seminar for business owners, hosted at The Microsoft Store at 125 Westchester Ave in White Plains.

4. Like whodunit? Like musicals? How about the Hitchcock masterpiece The 39 Steps. You can see it at the White Plains Performing Arts Center with performances this week Thursday through Sunday. Check the Web site for more information.

5. The Up series continues at 6 p.m. Thursday at Sarah Lawrence College with a look at the 56-year-olds in the documentary by director Michael Apted. 56 Up is the latest film where every seven years Apted goes back to talk to the 14 children-now adults. The free film will be shown in the Esther Raushenbush Library Meeting Room on the campus at 1 Mead Way in Bronxville.
