New Rochelle Girl Scout Troop Receives Award

The Scouts held a cereal drive for a local organization.

The members of  New Rochelle Girl Scout Troop 1873 received the Girl Scout Sliver Award for their efforts in organizing and running a Cereal Drive for HOPE Community Services Food Pantry in New Rochelle in November 2011.

Over 1,600 boxes of cereal were collected for HOPE.

The troop members—Samantha Cohn, Christina Jellen, Taylor Simms and Jessica Smith—are all eighth-grade students at Albert Leonard Middle School.

The Girl Scout Silver Award is the highest award a Girl Scout Cadette can earn. It is symbolic of accomplishments in Girl Scouting and community activities as a girl grows and works to better her life and the lives of others.
