Habitat Volunteers Work in High Temps Around New Rochelle

Volunteers from Habitat for Humanity of Westchester were working in the 90-plus-degree weather on two projects in New Rochelle Tuesday.

Executive Director Jim Killoran said volunteers from Home Depot helped to repair and paint picnic tables for the American Legion Post 8 on North Avenue.

Work was also taking place at a house on Beechwood Avenue.

Killoran said, besides getting damaged or old items into a dumpster, the volunteers would be helping to repair the roof of the structure.

He said people had been sleeping under a tarp on the top floor.
