Habitat Tends Garden in New Rochelle [VIDEO]

The vegetables are grown in a vacant lot on Main Street.

A group of students are helping tend a garden on Main Street overseen by . The vacant lot is opposite .

Edith Herrera, a senior at New Rochelle High School, is one of the volunteers. On a recent visit, she said she and the others were harvesting vegetables and preparing the garden for the winter, so it would be ready come spring for new plantings.

The vegetables being readied for harvest now include basil, tomatoes, eggplants and peppers.
