Habitat Tends Garden in New Rochelle [VIDEO]

The vegetables are grown in a vacant lot on Main Street.

A group of students are helping tend a garden on Main Street overseen by . The vacant lot is opposite .

Edith Herrera, a senior at New Rochelle High School, is one of the volunteers. On a recent visit, she said she and the others were harvesting vegetables and preparing the garden for the winter, so it would be ready come spring for new plantings.

The vegetables being readied for harvest now include basil, tomatoes, eggplants and peppers.

I like the idea of it but i thought we had ward areas for that. Why not build some retail in the downtown the store front burnt down years ago and the owners were paid why not rebuild?? Oh i know we don't need another 99 store
