The 2013 All-HVIAC Women’s Tennis was announced by the conference office recently, and two players from The College of New Rochelle were recognized for their outstanding play this season.

Sophomore Deanna Tozzo (Shrub Oak, NY/Lakeland HS) receives this honor for the second consecutive season.  Representing the Blue Angels at #1 singles and #1 doubles all season, the Shrub Oak, NY resident led the team in wins in each category as well as overall for the season.  She advanced to the semifinals in both the #1 singles and #1 doubles flights at the HVIAC Championships, scoring two points and helping the Blue Angels place fourth overall.

Junior Nancy Varughese (Blauvelt, NY/Tappan Zee HS) earns All-HVIAC honors for the first time.  Splitting time between #2 and #3 singles and #1 and #2 doubles, the Blauvelt, NY resident was second on the team in wins in singles competition, doubles competition, and overall wins.  Her best match of the season came in a win over HVIAC foe St. Joseph’s College-Brooklyn, where she posted a 10-4 win at #3 singles and an 8-4 with at #2 doubles.
