Three Blue Angels Named Swimming All-HVIAC

Three swimmers from The College of New Rochelle were named Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) Swimming All-Conference, it was released recently by the conference office.  Senior Catherine Santivanez (Brooklyn, NY/Benjamin Cardozo High School), sophomore Tina Thomas (New Rochelle, NY/New Rochelle), and freshman Ilsy Rodriguez (Bridgeport, CT/Kolbe-Cathedral HS) were each named to the exclusive team.

Santivanez posted the fastest Blue Angel time in four individual events, the 50 Freestyle (30.1), 200 Freestyle (2:29.72), 100 Butterfly (1:16.28), and 200 Individual Medley (2:47.25) and was part of the fastest 200 Freestyle and 200 Medley Relays, with times of 2:02.81 and 2:18.99, respectively. At the HVIAC Invitational Championship, she was part second place 200 Free and Medley Relays while also placing second in the 100 Butterfly and fourth in the 200 IM.  The second highest point earner on the squad, she earns all-conference for the second time, as she also received the award following the 2011-12 season.

Thomas was the top point producer for CNR this season, and also earned the most first-place finishes for the Blue Angels.  She was a member of the 200 Free and 200 Medley Relay teams that produced the top times for the team this season.  Like Santivanez, she also had a strong HVIAC Championship meet, joining her on the two relays while placing second in the 50 Freestyle and fourth in the 100 Freestyle
