Jah-Leah Ellis Named AD3I Student-Athlete of the Month
The Association of Division III Independents named The College of New Rochelle women’s basketball forward Jah-Leah Ellis (Harlem, NY/Hun School of Princeton) its Student-Athlete of the Month for the month of November, it was announced recently by the conference.
Ellis posted a strong first month in wearing the Blue and White for The College of New Rochelle, averaging a team-leading 23.7 points and 13.7 rebounds to help the Blue Angels to a 5-1 start to their season. The forward also averaged 5.0 assists, 2.2 steals and 1.2 blocks per game while shooting 52.4% from the field. Ellis recorded four double-doubles in the six games and led the team in scoring four times, rebounding five times, assists twice, steals twice and blocks three times in a display of her versatility. The AD3I Player of the Week on November 19th was named Tournament MVP at the Bryn Mawr Women’s College Basketball Tip-Off Tournament after a 20 point, eight rebound seven assist performance in the win over Notre Dame of Mayland and a 33 point, 19 rebound effort in the championship game win over Cedar Crest. Ellis recorded five games with 20 or more points, including two with 30 or more, and reached double-figures in rebounds four times. In the Blue Angels’ win over the College at Old Westbury, the first for CNR over the Panthers since the 1999-2000 season, Ellis poured in 31 points and added 15 rebounds, eight assists and three steals while committing no turnovers.
