Indigo Flowers Named HVIAC Volleyball Rookie of the Week

NEW ROCHELLE, NY – The College of New Rochelle first-year setter Indigo Flowers has been named the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week, it was announced today by the conference office.

Flowers posted a strong week in helping The College of New Rochelle to a 3-1 week, including a win in its HVIAC opener against The King's College.  The rookie averaged a team-best 7.00 assists and 0.93 service aces per set.  The Castro Valley, CA resident handed out a career-best 39 assists in the team's win over Purchase College and recorded her second double-double of the season in the win over The King's College, registering 31 assists and 14 digs.  Flowers also excelled in the service game, posting multi-ace matches in each of the team's four matches, with a high of six vs. Purchase College.  The three wins enabled CNR to post a five match win streak, the team's longest since the 2011 season.

This is the second time in the last three weeks that a Blue Angel has been recognized with HVIAC Rookie of the Week honors, as Marissa Armstrong received the award on September 4.
