HVIAC and AD3I Name Ellis Player of the Week

The College of New Rochelle’s Jah-Leah Ellis (Harlem, NY/Hun School of Princeton) has been named the Women’s Basketball Player of the Week by both the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) and the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) it was released Tuesday by the respective conference offices.

Ellis posted a monster game in The College of New Rochelle’s win over St. Joseph’s College-Long Island.  The forward tallied 32 points and a game-high 22 rebounds, adding five assists in the Blue Angels’ 88-81 win.  The junior forward converted 50% from the field (12-24) and 88.9% from the line (8-9), and 11 of her 22 caroms came on the offensive glass.  This total was her second 20+ rebound game this season.  Ellis’ double-double increased her season total to 13, which ranks her eighth in NCAA DIII.  Her rebounding average of 14.2 rpg places her fourth on the NCAA DIII rankings.

This marks the second time this season that Ellis has received this award from both conferences, as she also was recognized on November 19.
