HVIAC All-Academic Status Bestowed Upon Seven Blue Angels

Seven student-athletes from The College of New Rochelle were named to the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) 2013 Fall All-Academic Team, it was announced recently by the conference office.

The volleyball team had five players recognized to highlight the Blue Angel contingent.  Juniors Erica Cuscina (Patterson, NY/School of the Holy Child) and Diana Desir (Spring Valley, NY/Spring Valley) are repeat honorees from 2012, while senior Tanika Charles (Brooklyn, NY/Clara Barton) was named All-Academic in 2011.  They are joined by junior Shamella Bartholomew (Brooklyn, NY/Benjamin Banneker Academy) and sophomore Allison Millen (Yonkers, NY/Sacred Heart).

Sophomore Anissa Figueroa (New Rochelle, NY/The Ursuline School) represents the cross country team, while sophomore Deanna Tozzo (Shrub Oak, NY/Lakeland) represents the tennis team.

Of the 137 student-athletes named All-Academic, 23 also received All-Conference honors in their respective sports and 50 were repeat All-Academic honorees.

The All-Academic Team consists of student-athletes who have reached sophomore academic standing and have earned a 3.5 cumulative grade point average or better at the conclusion of the fall semester, and participate in one of the conference’s fall sports - men's soccer, men's cross country, women's soccer, women's tennis, women's volleyball and women's cross country.
