Armstrong Nails Down AD3I Player and HVIAC Rookie of the Week Honors

The College of New Rochelle freshman Marissa Armstrong has been recognized for her outstanding play last week, as she was named the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) Volleyball Player of the Week and the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) Volleyball Rookie of the Week, it was announced by the respective conference offices Tuesday.

Armstrong has a strong week for The College of New Rochelle, helping the Blue Angels to an undefeated 4-0 week, with two wins coming in HVIAC action.  The Scottsdale, AZ native became the first Blue Angel to record 20 kills in a match in the win over Rutgers-Newark, adding 12 digs and 3 aces.  She recorded two double-doubles to increase her total to four, and averaged 3.43 kills, 3.21 digs and 1.14 aces per set on the week.

This marks the second time in the last three weeks that a Blue Angel has been honored as AD3I Volleyball Player of the Week and the fourth time this season (and Armstrong’s second) that the HVIAC has named a College of New Rochelle rookie as its Volleyball Rookie of the Week.
