AD3I and HVIAC Name Jah-Leah Ellis Women's Basketball Player of the Week

The College of New Rochelle junior forward Jah-Leah Ellis (Harlem, NY/The Hun School of Princeton) has been selected as Women’s Basketball Player of the Week by both the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) and the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC), it was announced Tuesday by the respective conference offices.

Ellis made an immediate impact in her debut season for the Blue Angels, earning Tournament MVP honors at the Bryn Mawr Women’s College Tip-Off Tournament after leading The College of New Rochelle to a pair of victories and the tournament championship. In the season opener against Notre Dame University of Maryland, the forward shot 10-of-16 from the field, producing 20 points, eight rebounds, seven assists, two steals and a block in 29 minutes of action. Ellis upped the ante in the championship game against Cedar Crest College, pouring in game-highs of 33 points and 19 rebounds to go along with four assists.

The junior concluded her week averaging 26.5 points per game, 13.5 rebounds per game and 5.5 assists per game while shooting an efficient 59 percent from the field and 70 percent from the free throw line.
