Summer Fun for New Rochelle Children at Huguenot Library

Children can just drop in to take part in daily activities.

The Huguenot Children's Library in New Rochelle is letting kids experience "Old Fashioned Summer Fun."

The free drop-in activity program happens from 10 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Monday through Friday through August 16, with the exception of July 4.

The program, which is sponsored by the Partnership for the Huguenot Children's Library, with funds from an anonymous donor, is staffed by college students.

Gabriella Morrow, the director, is a senior at Catholic University of America.

Children can participate in daily arts and crafts, ping pong, board games, cards and sports games and enjoy puppet shows. They also have access to the library and park.

Morrow said she combines her past experience with the program—having been director for three years—with what she is studying in order to become a teacher.

"As a kid, the library was my favorite place to go every summer," she said. "Now I have the privilege of providing that fun for other kids."

Children must be age 3 or older, be accompanied by a parent or adult caregiver and show a valid library card.
