Last Chance in New Rochelle: Summer's End

Here are two events you probably want to know about.

"End of summer" has a sad ring to it, but the is throwing two parties this week for children who have been participating in the summer reading program.

This summer's theme was Dream Big @ Your Library! and there were movies, live presentations and other activities since July.

On Tuesday, Aug. 14, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., kindergarten and pre-kindergarten children will be treated to a performance by entertainer Kurt Gallagher. They will be able to make music, sing songs and have fun.

For children in grades one through five, their end of summer party will be Wednesday, Aug. 15 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Spending time on the high seas will be the theme with Pirate School, where children will participate with magic, original music, props and slapstick.

After each program, award certificates will be presented to all children who completed the Summer Reading Game.
