Animals to Educate, Touch at New Rochelle Library

New Rochelle children had a chance Wednesday to see and touch some unusual animals.

"Digging Into Nature," presented at the New Rochelle Public Library, featured Chris Evers, director and founder of Animal Embassy, which uses rescued and adopted animals to educate people about nature.

The animals on display at the library included a soft-shelled turtle name Pinocchio, a hognose snake, a ferret, a hedgehog and a mole salamander.

Barbara Davis, the library's community relations director, said the event was part of the Summer on the Sound series.

"It helps our patrons get a fuller understanding of the fabulous natural environment around us," she said, in particularly the Long Island Sound.
