Which Olympic Sport Are You Most Looking Forward To? [POLL]

The Olympics start Friday night

This summer’s Olympics officially get underway this Friday with the opening ceremony. Events start Saturday.

Over the following two-plus weeks, the Olympics will dominate the sports world with a variety of different competitions, story lines and athletes. So, heading into the Olympics, which sport are you most excited to watch?

Basketball has arguably the most famous athletes heading into the Olympics, as Team USA and plenty others are made up of NBA players.

Swimming sees the return of Michael Phelps, who in 2008 set an Olympics record by winning eight gold medals. This year he’s expected to face some tough competition from his own team, as many think fellow American Ryan Lochte will have a strong showing in London.

There are plenty of different gymnastics events at the Olympics, but the US women haven’t won the team all-around gold medal since 1996. However, last year in Tokyo, the American women won gold at the World Gymnastics Championships by beating defending Olympic champion Russia. With the win, the US women are the favorites heading into London.

Of course, those are just a few of the many events going on over the next few weeks. Let us know which one you’re most excited to see.

I think it's great that Pamela Davis stepped up to run and I would be glad to vote for her any otherRead More year. But this year we have one of New Rochelle's most dedicated and knowledgeable activists running. Bob Cox knows New Rochelle and the school district inside and out. I'm not sure the same can be said for Pam Davis. If you want someone who already knows where the wasteful spending is, and already knows the district's strengths and weaknesses, then Bob Cox is the person. Who cares how congenial he is? Where some people see anger and finger-pointing, others see tenacity and accountability.
