Last Chance: New Rochelle Celebs Play WFAN All-Stars

Proceeds from the game will benefit the Flowers (City) Park athletic complex.

New Rochelle public officials and city staff take to the field Tuesday in a softball game to raise funds for the Flowers (City) Park athletic complex.

The New Rochelle Celebrities, coached by Athletic Director Harold Crocker, will play a nine-inning slow-pitch softball game against the WFAN All Stars, led by former New Rochellean and WFAN morning anchor Craig Carton and his co-host Boomer Esiason.

The action will take place on softball field No. 1 at the complex, located on Fifth Avenue near Portman Road.

The schedule calls for team warm-ups at 5:30 p.m., followed by a pre-game ceremony at 6 p.m. The game will begin at 6:15 p.m.

Raffle tickets are $20 each or three tickets for $50; winners do not need to be present to win All event proceeds will be specifically dedicated through the New Rochelle Parks & Recreation Gift Fund to benefit the new athletic facility. Checks can be made payable to City of New Rochelle Parks & Recreation Gift Fund; all contributions are tax-deductible.

I think it's great that Pamela Davis stepped up to run and I would be glad to vote for her any otherRead More year. But this year we have one of New Rochelle's most dedicated and knowledgeable activists running. Bob Cox knows New Rochelle and the school district inside and out. I'm not sure the same can be said for Pam Davis. If you want someone who already knows where the wasteful spending is, and already knows the district's strengths and weaknesses, then Bob Cox is the person. Who cares how congenial he is? Where some people see anger and finger-pointing, others see tenacity and accountability.
