Hartsdale, NY – The Westchester Pride Coalition announced today that Westchester County’s fourth annual LGBT Pride celebration will take place at Ridge Road Park on Saturday, August 18, 2012 from 12:00 to 8:00 pm. This will be the fourth year for the county’s lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered residents to gather to enjoy a fun-filled, family-friendly day.

The event is organized by a coalition of ten not-for-profit agencies serving the LGBT community known as the Westchester Pride Coalition (WPC). More than 350 residents turned out for similar Pride events in previous years. Guests do not have to identify as LGBT in order to attend; many “straight” allies are expected to attend as well.

Westchester Pride’s new home in Ridge Road Park is perfect for a “family picnic” styled event, complete with sandpit volleyball, outdoor games, and a playground for children.

The centerpiece of this year’s event is a men’s health fair called “Unzipped,” organized by the MSM Coalition and sponsored by the Hispanic Federation. Men of all ages will be able to access basic health screenings such as blood sugar, vision, blood pressure and HIV testing. A few lucky participants will win an iPad, an iPod or a Kindle. The health fair is also offering free shuttle rides from the Hartsdale train station and Beeline bus stops on Central Avenue.

Westchester Pride also features vendors, dancing to music by DJ Mimi and beverages courtesy of B Lounge in Valhalla. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, picnic blankets, and outdoor activities.

The event is open to the public and all are welcomed. The Westchester Pride Coalition is asking for a $10 suggested donation from adults; children and those attending for the health fair only may enter for no charge. More information is available at www.westchesterpride.org.
