Lo-Hud’s Mercogliano breaks down the best players by position in Class AA, Class A and Class’s B and C for three All-Tournament Teams.

St. John’s Storms Into Super Regional:

The St. John’s University baseball team capitalized on two infield errors in the ninth inning to pad their lead and defeated North Carolina, 9-5, Monday night in second-round action in the NCAA Baseball Tournament Chapel Hill (NC) Regional. The Red Storm (40-21), advancing to the Super Regional for the first time in program history, fell behind 3-1 after two innings, but quickly took a 4-3 lead and never trailed. Anthony Iacomini of North Salem started at second base, and left in the seventh inning for a pinch-hitter, while Colin Moran of Rye was at third base for the Tar Heels, who finish their season at an impressive 46-16. Outfielder Jimmy Brennan of Airmont went 1 for 4 with an RBI for the Red Storm, who next meet the winner of the Tucson, AZ, Regional. The Red Storm had opened tournament play by smashing East Carolina University, 11-3, behind a 16-hit attack, including a 2-for-5, two-RBI effort from Suffern HS alum Brennan.
