Daily Sports Digest: Football Comes to Monroe College

The Mustangs of New Rochelle are building a football program and they will be doing it soon as newly hired Head Coach Terry Karg and company are looking to begin play in 2012.

Karg has coached for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers in the AF2 and he was with the Los Angeles Avengers of the AFL where he worked with quarterbacks like Todd Marinavich, Tony Grazini and Erik Wilhelm. Karg was also a successful athlete in his own right as he played in the Canadian Football League, Arena Football League and NFL Europe, and his global experience will help him in the diverse world of college athletics.

Coach Karg believes that the Mustangs will need to reach into the city for talent as he told the Daily News in December that city kids will be the “foundation of what we are here at the Monroe College football program.”

In Girls Basketball, Ursuline will host Mamaroneck at 6 p.m.
