Daily Sports Digest: CNR’s Pechin Named All Tournament Team

Allyssa Pechin and the Blue Angels fell on Sunday afternoon in the championship game of the Betty Shabazz Tournament. However when the all tournament team came out, Pechin made the cut. Pechin is a freshman and is a Yonkers native. Already the team has been impacted by her presence.

Villanova will take on Missouri and Washington will square off against Marquette tonight at Madison Square Garden as ESPN wraps up “Jimmy V Week.” ESPN plays Jimmy V’s ESPY speech in between the games to remind us of the character of the man who inspired the Jimmy V Foundation to help fight this disease. Head Coach Jeannine Maoilini and the players are working hard to revamp the Port Chester Softball program. Currently the booster club is running a fundraiser with Modell’s in order to help out the young athletes. I think it's great that Pamela Davis stepped up to run and I would be glad to vote for her any otherRead More year. But this year we have one of New Rochelle's most dedicated and knowledgeable activists running. Bob Cox knows New Rochelle and the school district inside and out. I'm not sure the same can be said for Pam Davis. If you want someone who already knows where the wasteful spending is, and already knows the district's strengths and weaknesses, then Bob Cox is the person. Who cares how congenial he is? Where some people see anger and finger-pointing, others see tenacity and accountability.
