Local Runners Participated in Today's Boston Marathon

Here's a list of runners from local communities who were scheduled to run in the marathon.

As police in Boston investigate this afternoon's explosions at the finish line of the Boston Marathon, members of the marathon and racing communities in the our Westchester, Rockland and Putnam counties are reaching out to friends who ran the race to check that they are OK.

Officials of the Jarden Westchester Triathlon, which is run annually in Rye, say they have reached out to fellow runners from our area who were scheduled to be in the race. And, so far, all are reporting to be safe.

Tarrytown's Sharon Callahan considers herself lucky to have had an injury that had her pull out from the race one week ago, more to come on her.

Vickie Cox of Rye is safe in her hotel room--she finished two minutes before the bombs went off. Read an interview http://rye.patch.com/articles/like-an-explosion-like-a-bomb-like-and-artillery-cannon

It looked like it was spectators that took the brunt of the blast and most runner seemed ok

Reports as well that a second runner from Tarrytown, Shelby Harris, is okay; she was nearby with her family and all are well. http://patch.com/A-3Dw0
