New Rochelle Boutique, Cafe Holds Exhibits of Recyclables

Recologie continues to expanded its offerings, with exhibits and food.

After five years in the Village of Larchmont, Recologie's move to New Rochelle now includes a gallery and a vegan/vegetarian cafe.

Founder Maria Ciseros of Pelham and her partner Judith Weber of New Rochelle have created a multi-purpose venue that is designed to engage the community, offering recycled and repurposed eco-conscious local and global fair trade products.

The current exhibit, which is the first one in the new Lawton Street space, features the art of May Ann Lomonaco whose constructions are made from recycled, reclaimed and reconstructed materials. The show is open to the public 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

The next exhibition—Transformations: Paper Works by Adriana Rostovsky—will open at Saturday, December 14 at 5 p.m.

Weber said that Rostovsky was born in Uruguay and was trained as an architect.

"Her art is informed and driven by a European history of conservation, the need to not discard," she said.

The Vistro Cafe, headed by Chef Amy Bach, is now offering a menu of vegan and vegetarian farm-to-table small plates and delights, Weber said. The menu can be viewed online.

Recologie is located at 49 Lawton St. in New Rochelle. The Web site can be visited by clicking here.
