Sound Shore Clothing Store Focuses on Children's Fashion

The co-owner is a former New Rochelle resident.

A new shop in Larchmont brings a new fashion sense to area children.

Maxime & Friends, owned by Farah Kathwari van Puyenbroeck and Robin van Puyenbroeck, Larchmont residents, has unique Europeon clothig for girls and boys from newborn to 6 years old.

"We wanted to bring another option for children to wear to the community," Farah van Puyenbroeck said.

Maxime & Friends is located at 150 Larchmont Ave.

Van Puyenbroeck said there is a difference in design between American clothing and European designed wearables.

"There more colors and mixed patterns," she said.

The former New Rochelle resident said European-style clothing is more gender blurring. "It's not just pink for girls and boy for boys," she said.

"The clothing is fun and young and whimsical," van Puyenbroeck said, "and it's age appropriate."

Prices for the clothing range from $30 to $150, with the average price point being $40 to $50.

Van Puyenbroeck said her background is in design. She is a product of New Rochelle public schools and the Ursuline School.

"It's great to come home and be part of the community and part of the business community," she said.

The store is holding an "Eight Days of Hanukkah" raffle which people who come to the store can enter.

Hours for Maxime & Friends are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday. It is closed Mondays.
