Weekend Sports Digest: Football Teams Dominate Away From Home

Both local football teams had to travel in the last weekend of the season but it didn’t affect either squad as both Iona and New Rochelle had easy victories. The Koala field hockey team fell over the weekend but all the local schools will be back in action tonight.

The Weekend’s Results:

Sport: Girl’s Soccer (Thursday)

Game: New Rochelle @ Mamaroneck

Score:  New Rochelle Won 2-1

Highlights: New Rochelle scored a big overtime victory thanks to goals from Alexandra Williams and Yunhue Tellez. Kaitlyn Grogan had 20 saves in the win.

Sport: Football

Game: New Rochelle @ Ketcham

Score:  New Rochelle Won 28-6

Highlights: KeMel McLean found the end zone twice as the Huguenots cruised to victory on the road. Khalil Edney and Shaquille Evans hooked up for a 6-yard score in the first half and it set New Rochelle on their way to another easy victory.

Sport:  Field Hockey

Game: Ursuline @ Irivington

Score:  Irivington Won 2-0

Highlights: The Koalas couldn’t score against a tough Irvington defense as Ursuline fell on the road 2-0. In the loss Danielle Fucci had 11 saves.

Sport: Football

Game: Iona Prep @ Stepinac

Score:  Iona Prep Won 30-17

Highlights: Quarterback Mario Biaggi rushed for three touchdowns as the Gales cruised to victory on the road. The win halts Iona’s losing streak at two.

In girl’s swimming, Ursuline will take on New Rochelle at 4:30 p.m.

In field hockey, Ursuline heads to Rye Neck at 4:15 p.m.

In girl’s soccer, Ursuline hosts Mamaroneck at 4:30 p.m.

In volleyball, White Plains heads to Ursuline at 4:15 p.m.
