Three New Principals Chosen for New Rochelle Schools

Two principals have been officially appointed; one should be appointed at the June 25 board meeting.

Three new principals have been chosen for the New Rochelle School District.

Taking the helm at New Rochelle High School will be Reginald Richardson, currently principal of Performing Arts and Technology High School in Brooklyn. He begins work July 1 and follows the retirement of Principal Donald Conetta.

Richardson has been at Performing Arts and Technology since 2010. Before that, he was an aspiring principal at the New York City Leadership Academy assigned to Brooklyn's Sunset Park High School and assistant principal at Manhattan Theatre Lab High School.

He has a doctorate from Howard University School of Law and a masters in education from Harvard University Graduate School of Education.

The new principal of Barnard Early Childhood Center will be Joanna Genovese. She replaces retiring Principal Patricia Lambert July 1.

Most recently, Genovese was the principal of Hurlbutt Elementary School in Weston, CT. She has a masters degree in elementary education from the University of Bridgeport.

Richardson and Genovese were officially appointed June 4 by the New Rochelle Board of Education.

At Davis Elementary School, Michael Galland will become principal July 1, pending  approval by the board of education at its June 25 meeting.

He will succeed William Harrell, who served as principal for 29 years

Galland is currently the assistant principal at Columbus Elementary School, having served previously as department chair of mathematics and technology at Isaac E. Young Middle School.

He has a masters of education degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. His wife, Milagro Galland, teaches at Jefferson Elementary School.
