Thinking About Running for the School Board?

A workshop for prospective school board members will be held in White Plains.

The Westchester-Putnam School Boards Association will hold its annual workshop for prospective school board members at 8 a.m. Saturday.

The free workshop, which lasts until 12:30 p.m., is for anyone who is now running for the post or plans to in the future. It will be held at the Education House, 5 Homeside Ln., White Plains.

Current school board members and an area school superintendent wil discuss topics including roles and responsibilities, district issues and operations, board/superintendent relationships, budgets and the myths and relaties of board service.

Participants in the workshop will have the opportunity to participate in a board meeting scenario and consider typical board issues.
