The Westchester Chapter of The Links Awards $15,000 in Nine Scholarships

Five of nine local Links scholarships go to NRHS seniors.

The Westchester County (NY) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated awarded nine   academic scholarships on June 15th in a ceremony at the New Rochelle United Methodist Church.

Nine scholarships  were given to seniors graduating from three schools including New Rochelle High School. New Rochelle High School has hosted Link-supported programs which have provided enrichment activities to the student body.

The following New Rochelle High School students won awards based on academic excellence and community service:

The Westchester Chapter of the Links has served the Westchester community of African Americans and people of African descent for over 60 years and is a widely recognized service leader in the area. Its volunteer members have conducted numerous programs for youth and families, provided scholarships for deserving students, and forged collaborations with the private sector, government agencies, and community organizations.  

The organization was founded in 1946 by the late Mrs. Margaret Roselle Hawkins and the late Mrs. Sara Strickland Scott in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The organization consists of 276 chapters located in 41 states, the District of Columbia and The Commonwealth of the Bahamas.
