State Ed Common Core Forum Set for Port Chester Middle School
The public will be allowed to speak but you must register in advance or in the lobby of the school before the forum starts.

New York State Commissioner of Education Dr. John B. King, Jr. will participate in a community forum to discuss Common Core Learning Standards and other educational reforms Monday, Oct. 28 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Port Chester Middle School in Westchester County.
New York State Regent Harry Philips and Assemblyman Steve Otis will join King at the forum in the Port Chester Middle School auditorium. The session is one of 12 scheduled earlier this week across New York State, taking the place of larger town hall forums that had been suspended earlier this month.
"I am happy to hear that the parent forums have been rescheduled by Commissioner King," said Dr. John Morgano, Superintendent of the Pearl River School District. "It is important that he and the Board of Regents hear feedback from educators and parents on the matters of the new learning standards, assessments, their implementation, and most importantly, the impact on students."
Before King speaks, there will be a period of up to 90 minutes for statements by the public. Those interested in speaking must register in advance by calling Port Chester-Rye School District Clerk Yvette Segal between the hours of 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. at ((914) 934-7922 or sign up in the lobby outside the Port Chester Middle School auditorium from 3:30 to 4 p.m. Monday afternoon. The forum is open to all who are interested and speakers who sign up will have two minutes at the microphone.
