New Rochelle Schools Fill Assistant Principal Jobs

The two jobs were filled from within the district.

Two assistant principals started in their positions this week in the New Rochelle School District.

Michael Galland left his job as the math and technology chairman at Isaac E. Young Middle School to assume the position of assistant principal at Columbus Elementary School. 

The position was made vacant after the Assistant Principal Sonia Nunez was promoted to principal when Dr. Yigal Joseph retired at the end of the school year.

Galland was lead English as a second language teacher at two Bronx public schools, before becoming a third and fourth grade teacher at Columbus from 1998-2003. He was made department chairman at Isaac Young in Sept. 2003.

He has a bachelor's degree in English and American history from Tufts University and a master's degree in education administration from the Harvard University Graduate School of Education.

Inas Morsi-Hogans has been serving as interim assistant principal at Trinity Elementary School since January. She officially assumed the role July 1.

Morsi-Hogans previously service as assistant principal at the Ridgeway School in the White Plains School Districdt from 2010 to 2012 and as a third grade teacher leader at the Highview School in Greenburgh from 2005 to 2010.

She has both a bachelor's and master's degree in education from Brooklyn College and a master's in school administration from the .

I think it's great that Pamela Davis stepped up to run and I would be glad to vote for her any otherRead More year. But this year we have one of New Rochelle's most dedicated and knowledgeable activists running. Bob Cox knows New Rochelle and the school district inside and out. I'm not sure the same can be said for Pam Davis. If you want someone who already knows where the wasteful spending is, and already knows the district's strengths and weaknesses, then Bob Cox is the person. Who cares how congenial he is? Where some people see anger and finger-pointing, others see tenacity and accountability.
