New Rochelle High School Gears Up for Human Rights Week

From New Rochelle High School Principal Reginald Richardson:

Hello families and friends of New Rochelle High School

From Monday April 7th - Friday April 11th, NRHS will host our very first Human Rights Week!  This week is a result of collaborative work by several of our student clubs and organizations as well as community based organizations.  You will find that there are a number of activities that will provide powerful learning experiences for our students as well as the entire New Rochelle Community. I would like to thank the teachers and administrators who serve as club advisors and I would like to especially thank the New Rochelle Fund for Educational Excellence for their generous support in sponsoring the Power of Peace workshops for the students and community members.

Some of the community event highlights include:

Tuesday 4/8
  • Power of Peace Community Workshop facilitated by Michael Arterberry (6:30 – 8:30 PM in the NRHS Gym - Sponsored by the New Rochelle Fund for Educational Excellence. See the attached flyer)
Wednesday 4/9
  • Interfaith Religious Tolerance Discussion Panel (6:30-8:30 PM LEK – with Rabbi Michael Weisser, Sister Aisha Muhammad, and facilitated by Imam Yusuf Ramadan)
Thursday 4/10
  • Screening of the Film “Head Boy” Which gives us a glimpse into the racially stratified world of South African schools after apartheid. (Linda Kelly Theater 3:15 PM – 5:15 PM) There will a discussion after the film led by the director and producer of the film, our very own Mr. Shultz!
Friday 4/11
