Last Chance: JCC Offering Student Workshops

The Academic Center is offering time and paper management workshops for students to help them get organized.

The JCC of Mid-Westchester's Academic Center is offering two workshops to help teens get organized for the school year.

On Sunday, Sept. 23, from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., a Time Management Workshop will help students (and parents) start the school year off on the right foot by teaching them how to understand time. Through hands-on exercises, participants will learn to make time to juggle their busy schedules using time maps, school planners and electronic devices.

The following week on Sunday, September 30, from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m., a Paper Management Workshop will teach participants successful paper management techniques for organizing binders, knapsacks, lockers and home.

Each workshop costs $25/attendee, or $40 for both workshops. Registration information is available at www.jccmw.org. The workshops will be taught by Larchmont resident Leslie Josel, principal of Order Out of Chaos.

Josel is a certified professional organizer specializing in students and adults with chronic disorganization. She received her Chronically Disorganized and Hoarding Specialist Certificates from the Institute of Challenging Disorganization and is a member of the National Association of Professional Organizers. She teaches organization and time management skills to middle and high schoolers throughout Westchester.

The JCC Academic Center is also offering a PSAT Boot Camp, Writing Skills and College Application Essay workshops, and SAT Prep this fall.  For more information, contact Lisa Itzkowitz, Director, JCC Academic Center, 472-3300, x275, itzkowitzl@jccmw.org.

I think it's great that Pamela Davis stepped up to run and I would be glad to vote for her any otherRead More year. But this year we have one of New Rochelle's most dedicated and knowledgeable activists running. Bob Cox knows New Rochelle and the school district inside and out. I'm not sure the same can be said for Pam Davis. If you want someone who already knows where the wasteful spending is, and already knows the district's strengths and weaknesses, then Bob Cox is the person. Who cares how congenial he is? Where some people see anger and finger-pointing, others see tenacity and accountability.
