Judges Needed for Science, Engineering Fair in Westchester

The annual Westchester and Putnam Science and Engineering Fair (WESEF) will be held on March 9 in Sleepy Hollow High School.

Organizers of the annual Westchester and Putnam Science and Engineering Fair (WESEF), which will be held Saturday, March 9, are seeking judges for some of the behavioral, medical and environmental projects.

"The local high school science research students need your help," said Michael Blueglass, Westchester Science and Engineering Fair Director and Yorktown High School teacher.

The direct link for registering as a judge is www.wesefreg.org/judges.

At WESEF, not-for-profit organization, 350 students from 35 area high schools will showcase their multi-year research science projects in a competitive venue featuring individual and team poster presentations to be judged by local experts in the fields of life science, physical science, environmental studies, psychology and engineering.

In total, the sponsors to WESEF have donated more to $100,000 for this year’s event. This allows WESEF to award nearly 70 percent of all students with some for of recognition.

The 13 top projects will win a trip to the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair, the larger and more global of the two Intel sponsored events. Three additional projects will win a spot at the International Sustainable World Project Olympiad, which brings together over 700 students from over 60 countries whose projects have focused on sustainability.

The majority of students in the fair are seniors and juniors who are involved in their high school science research program.
