Iona Honors Alums and First Responders Who Fell on 9/11

The memorial service features prayers and consolations from other religions.

It was a solemn day until sweltering skies for Iona College's annual September 11th Memorial service.

The gathering honored the memory of 15 Iona alumni and two first responders who died as a result of the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center in 2001.

Many of the students, faculty and staff sought some relief from the heat and humidity by observing the ceremony from the shade provided by the scarce trees in Memorial Park in front of Ryan Library on the campus.
