Iona a 'Great College to Work For'

An education trade newspaper surveyed 44,000 employees at 310 colleges nationwide.

was recently named one of the best colleges in the nation to work for.

A survey by the Chronicle of Higher Education, which provides news, information, and jobs for college and university faculty members and administrators, found Iona was a recognized leader in four categories: Leadership, Respect and Appreciation, Teaching Environment and Tenure Clarity and Process.

The survey was of more than 44,000 employees at 310 colleges and universities.

In all, only 111 of the 310 achieved "Great College to Work For" recognition.

Results were reported for small, medium and large institutions. Iona is a medium college, having between 3,000 and 9.999 students.

The Chronicle's report cited Iona's yearlong orientation for all new employees, with a private presidential reception, a welcome luncheon and continuous career-development opportunities and support.

Iona President Dr. Joseph E. Nyre said he was proud to be a member of the school's long-standing tradition of excellence.

"It is our talented and dedicated faculty and staff that create the culture identified by the Chronicle," he said.
