One of the nation's leading authorities on eating disorders, Dr. Attia was appointed last year as Director of The Outlook at NYP Hospital/Westchester Division, the only specialized inpatient eating disorders program in New York state, that provides treatment for adolescents and adults with anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, as well as binge eating and other eating-related disorders. Dr. Attia is also Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at both Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and Weill Cornell Medical College. She has played a key role in improving care for patients with these challenging conditions and has been instrumental in understanding the biological basis of anorexia nervosa and in developing effective new treatments.

"Brave Girl Eating", published by HarperCollins, chronicles the author's daughter Kitty's struggle with anorexia nervosa and her journey back to renewed health.  Ms. Brown describes how her family, with the support of an open-minded pediatrician and skilled therapist, helped her daughter recover from a crippling eating disorder and regain her sense of self.
