At 1 PM, Dr. Evan P. Haefeli, Professor of History at Columbia University, explores the interface between the bold Puritan exile Anne Hutchinson, the local Lenape Indians and the Dutch colony of New Netherland, near St. Paul’s Church in the 1640s, spotlighting an exhibition currently on display at St. Paul’s.  Professor Haefeli’s presentation particularly examines Mrs. Hutchinson’s story in the context of the theme of religious toleration in New Netherland, which is covered in his forthcoming book, New Netherland and the Origins of American Religious Liberty.  Tours of the historic church and cemetery at St. Paul’s follow the talk.

I think it's great that Pamela Davis stepped up to run and I would be glad to vote for her any otherRead More year. But this year we have one of New Rochelle's most dedicated and knowledgeable activists running. Bob Cox knows New Rochelle and the school district inside and out. I'm not sure the same can be said for Pam Davis. If you want someone who already knows where the wasteful spending is, and already knows the district's strengths and weaknesses, then Bob Cox is the person. Who cares how congenial he is? Where some people see anger and finger-pointing, others see tenacity and accountability.
