My MIddle School LIfe - Calculator Dilemmas

Latin and Equations and Honor Roll and More!

This semester no one got on the honor roll at "Albert Young." Not a single kid.  Not me, not the spelling bee winner, not the geography bee winner, not a single kid. There goes the reputation of the school. No money for me from my grandparents. Nothing. Then I find out that the computer program forgot to put the notation for high honor roll or honor roll or anything on the report card. Totally wrong. What else did they miss?

My Latin teacher has been insane lately. Just one example, she went up to Shirley taking pictures for the yearbook, grabbed the camera and said and I quote "NO TECHNOLOGY WILL BE ALLOWED IN THIS ROOM!" Right after that we had a big lesson on the Smartboard (computerized white boards). After all of this, she emailed all of the parents a website where you can check your children's grades in her class. Of course nothing was on the website, aside from a button that said "Donate to your Teacher"; it says "So She Can Keep Up the Good Work".

One day last week, I forgot to bring my graphing calculator home from school. I had to do my homework on it so I was in a bit of a predicament. So I decided to try to find one on the internet. Instead I found a website where you inserted your name, and it gave you the equation for how to graph your name on the graphing calculator! The next day I showed it to Mrs. Monti and she gave me the look of "Are you kidding me?" I told her it made my name and she started laughing.  The link to it is http://www.xamuel.com/inverse-graphing-calculator.php

I have to perform 20 hours of community service as a part of preparation for my Confirmation. It has actually been a great experience. We have to go to the church parking lot really early in the morning and make breakfast for people. Then we drive into New York City and set up tables in a park to feed people breakfast and hand out clothing. I have spread cream cheese on bagels and handed out new underwear to lines of people, who are very appreciative. The last time we went we were sideswiped by a taxi and had to walk the last few blocks to our location. It was a good thing the food was in the other car. It is always an adventure when you are in middle school!

Thank for reading :)
