Guns and Beauty Shops

Your right to a safe haircut is virtually guaranteed.

Your right to a safe haircut is virtually guaranteed.

Every state has a requirement that cosmetologists are licensed, but only 17 states require gun licenses—according to Jon Vernick of Johns Hopkins University

Gun Owners Support Gun Control Too

Responsible gun owners don’t want untrained gun-novice “knuckleheads” walking around packing heat. And yet the NRA opposes reasonable requirements such as that gun owners be licensed and trained.

Responsible gun owners don’t want criminals walking around with guns. And yet the NRA opposes requiring the reporting of stolen guns.

Responsible gun owners support universal background checks. Indeed a recent Quinnipiac University survey showed that 92% of respondents support expanding background checks to all gun sales. In households with guns, support was 91%. Even amongst NRA members support for universal background checks is at 74%. And yet the NRA continues to oppose these checks.

Maybe this is why self-described "gun guy" Dan Braun writes that with 100 million gun owners in this country and only 4% of them signing up to join the NRA “it’s safe to say a large majority of them want nothing to do with the NRA’s angry extremism.” See Braun’s piece Why Our Gun Debate is Off Target in the Wall Street Journal.

Maybe this is why gun owners like Jerry Thompson are standing up and saying The NRA Doesn’t Speak for Me.  See as well this video about who’s behind the NRA.

And thanks for passing the word that—in spite of what folks may be hearing to the contrary—on much more than we’re being told, gun owners and non-owners agree.

As though your licensed hairdresser couldn't stab you repeatedly. Again, it's not the gun, it's the crazy person.
