New Developer Chosen for Long-Delayed Echo Bay Project

The project calls for the construction of over 1 million square feet of housing and commercial space that will be split into phases.

New York City-based Twining Properties this week was selected by the City Council as the newest developer of New Rochelle's Echo Bay waterfront project, according to The Journal News.

The project calls for the construction of over 1 million square feet of housing and commercial space that will be split into phases. It has been in the planning stages for more than eight years, and has been met by criticism throughout from various groups.

Additionally, the project was nearly the focus of one of a lawsuit by one developer that lost out.

"We are excited to be partnering with the City of New Rochelle to transform this special site into Echo Bay Center, a great new place to live, work and play at the water's edge," Alex Twining, chief operating officer of Twining Properties, told The Journal News' Barbara Livingston Nackman in a statement. "Our goal is to create an exceptional new town center that welcomes everyone to enjoy the waterfront."
